Why RecWNY.com Solar Covers Are The Best
At RecWNY.com we sell only heavy-duty sewn seamed solar covers as opposed to the average heat sealed seamed covers found at many places. We have found over the years that having a stitched seam creates a stronger bond and thus gives your solar cover longevity. Here are some facts regarding sewn seams versus heat sealed seams:
Heat sealed seams are usually a little less expensive, because you aren't paying for the cost of the thread itself and they are a lot faster to manufacturer. On the other hand, they can have burned or melted sections if the heat and/or speed aren't correct during manufacturing. Heat sealed seams quite often "curl" or "wave" a bit so they don't lay flat on the pool or solar reel and also separate frequently.
Sewn seamed covers have edges that are guided into a commercial computerized sewing machine therefore the overlap on the seam is constant . Two rows of stitching are used on every seam for added strength using a lockstitch which means the seam can be cut anywhere and the Gortex™ thread will not unravel. The Gortex™ thread is 1,000 denier polypropylene which is highly UV stabilized to resist breaking down after exposure to the sun and outdoor elements.
The Benefits Of Using A Solar Cover
By using a solar cover, you can extend your swimming season.
Open your pool earlier and close it later, allowing you to spend more time enjoying your pool.
A solar cover will raise your pool's water temperature at least 10° above an unheated and uncovered pool.
Thousands of tiny air bubbles in the solar blankets are designed to capture and transmit solar heat to your pool.
Solar covers also help keep your pool water cleaner by blocking out dirt and debris, which helps save on chemicals, cuts water evaporation, and prevents heat loss.
There are two styles of solar covers available:
Good quality, 8 mil Blue solar covers are the most common types of solar covers available.
Best quality, 12 mil Clear solar covers are not only thicker and heavier but Clear solar covers also allow more of the suns heat to reach further into your pool allowing for faster and more even heating.
For kidney or oval shaped pools, simply cut to size with scissors.
